We tried hanging bikes on the back and only them stolen once, but were forever cleaning and oiling the rusty parts. One had a basket on the front and it was always in the way.
Those were stolen in a guarded lot in a large urban area known for its crime, graft and gun control, we elected to get folding bikes and carry them inside. They sure are not as good as real bicycles, but we have not had the same ones for quite a number of years. They don't have baskets, there is a package rack that has been some use, but mostly we use the backpacks. There is one in the coach standard kit and another we sometimes load if we think we will need it.
While I like the basket that hooks on the handle bars (and lifts off), I have never seen one - anywhere. Maybe I will start looking for one of those.
