Bicycle basket?

A few years ago I was AZ for winter, decided a bicycle would be nice. I checked Craig's list and picked up a used Jamais (never heard of them before) for a good price.

That was a great purchase! I bicycle a lot when camping, and really enjoy it. Last year in FL I was putting on 8-10 miles a day. I would pedal to a store, or veggie stand to get stuff, but carrying it was always a problem. I would hang the plastic bags on the handle bars, and seemed to always be in the way.

An suggestions for a basket? I see some at Wal-mart, but wonder if there is something better, like something that would be over the back axle, etc.

We've used wire baskets very much like this, except when not in use, the bottom folds up, then the baskets collapse inward so they don't stick out. Used these for 15 years.
  • There are quite a few lovely wicker ones out there. I have seen them at bike shops.
