Oh another on subject line if not on topic comment.
When I was in elementary school they taught us "Bicycle safety" (Riding safely) one of the things they taught us is to ride opposite traffic.
Turns out in my state that's against the law. The Michigan Vehicle Code says bicycles are to be operated on the RIGHT side. Same as a car, motorcycle or semi truck. Who'd a thun it.. (I sure did not I was researching the bicycle page of the Michigan Vehicle Code for OTHER reasons) you also have to obey all Stop, Yeild and Speed limit signs and signals YOU can ride the wrong way on a one way if you ride on the sidewalk (speed limit varies from city to city) and you can make an otherwise Illegal LEFT turn if you WALK the bike through the turn (I always road across then up onto the sidewalk right around the walk/don't walk and on to where I was going)
