I have run b20 in my 2010 GMC those the manual states not to run bio above b5. The engine does run smoother. More lubricity in the fuel. Downsides are tends to draw moisture thats why said early don't store more than 3 months. If your gonna buy it better burn it. Also bio gels at a higher temperature than straight diesel. It is not good in cold climates.

You will. Be hard pressed to find B5 or less. I have been running B10 a lot as that seems to be in the states I drive thru.

Some fuel systems in pre-2002 engines contain components that are not compatible with a B20 biodiesel blend. Seals and hoses of natural rubber, butyl rubber and some types of nitrile rubber (depending on chemical composition, construction and application) may be particularly susceptible to degradation in biodiesel fuels.

Due to the solvent nature of B20, and the potential for ‘cleaning’ of the vehicle fuel tank and lines, new fuel filters must be installed when switching to B20 on used engines. Fuel filters will need to be replaced at half the standard interval for the next two fuel filter changes.

Use biodiesel fuel within six months of its manufacture date. Biodiesel has lower oxidation stability compared to petrodiesel. Avoid storing equipment with biodiesel blends in the fuel system for more than three months.

Cummins says 20% but Dodge says 5%. More to it than just the engine. Since we have a 2012 Dodge dually, we hope they come out with a fix for this issue. It will probably mean an addition of another filter and a programming change. Dealers know when you have been using bio diesel, because it can cause a big gel like mess in the engine that is expensive to clean up. Family member is a mechanic at a Dodge dealer in IL and they see this problem all the time because 11% or higher bio diesel is just about all you can find.

How the heck would Mercedes or others determine if you used B5 or B20.

A new Mercedes Sprinter will void warranty if B5 or more is used. From what I read, this has to do with the fuel sprayed on the DPF when regenning that causes it to malfunction, which can be a $3000+ DPF replacement. At best, the vehicle will throw a code, or perhaps go into limp home mode.

The Sprinters are different from the MB/FL engines... especially the new four-banger, and are a lot more sensitive on fuel.

Wow guys. I was just at cummins and they said that 02 and newer are ok up to B20.

On-Highway: ISX, ISM, ISL, ISC and ISB engines certified to EPA '02 and later emissions standards, and ISL, ISC and ISB engines certified to Euro III

Off-Highway: QSX, QSM, QSL, QSC, QSB6.7 and QSB4.5 engines certified to Tier 3/Stage IIIA, QSM Marine and QSM G-Drive

interesting .... our Sportchassis has a MB900 Mercedes diesel engine .... the warranty is long over so that isn't an issue .... I can't help but wonder if the over 5% is for their truck engines as well as their automotive motors
