The attainable speed depends on how much power was being transmitted to the highway --
not on how much flywheel power the engine was rated for ten years ago.

The OP has lost 70 ponies due to the elevation, and another 70 or so due to drive train loss. So he only has 200 hp or so hitting the ground to move him.
I am figuring 375 hp to go up the hill at 60 with no change for altitude. A third more than Rons figures. If his 40 mph figure is a third low also......Hence why he is losing ground.
The figures we are giving out are not cut in stone, then can vary based on a number of items. Like one not talked about yet, did the OP have say a 20 mph head wind which would require more hp.
