Black Spots on underside of Awning - How to Remove?

Google "shotgun spores" and see if that resembles what you have. I mention it only because of your wife's unsuccessful attempts at removing them. I've had past problems with the spores and learned to avoid parking or camping on mulch. I wouldn't use it in flower beds around the house either. It doesn't come off.:(
