I have always believed the idea of controlling holding tank odors is something created by the chemical industry to sell products rather than to alleviate a problem.
Then you don't understand the principles of free enterprise, the many benefits of which we enjoy here in N America that others in many other parts of the world don't. If there's a demand and there's a way to produce a product that will meet that demand then industry will offer it. It's up to
you to decide if it's a product that meets
your requirements but not up to you to decide for everyone else. The argument over tank chems is no different than the argument over sacrificial anode rods for Atwood water heaters ... Atwood ships these heaters without an anode rod because with an aluminum tank Atwood's view is it's unnecessary. However, some owners demand it and so industry responded and offers a anode rod sized specifically for Atwood water heaters. I personally don't use one in my own Atwood water heater and wouldn't because I choose to believe Atwood knows what they're talking about, others disagree and do use one - that's free enterprise at work, meeting market demand, not a plot on the part of industry to force you to buy something you don't need. It's up to
you to make the choice. When it comes to tank chems I've made
my choice and do use them rather than just water alone.
