I had to replace the original cap that was like Bobbo's because it was cracked. Got a Cyclone - I don't know if it works better than the original - all I know is it looks really cool on my RV.beemerphile1 wrote:

Same here. Those Cyclone vent caps are supposed to draw the fumes from the tank but it is impossible. The waste tank is a closed system, for fumes to be drawn from the tank it would create a vacuum and that isn't going to happen. The Cyclone is a tax on gullibility.
I have the Cyclone and it works. I had smells in the RV when driving down the road. After installing the new vents the oders went away. The closed system wouldn't need a vent if there were no gases created. The cyclone doesn't suck the gases out, it just directs them away.
And... I can tell which way the wind is blowing.... :C - NMDriverExplorerNot nitpicking just stating a fact and correcting your erroneous statement.
It is not a closed system. A closed system does not interact with other systems. An RV black tank interacts with several other systems, including your digestive system. - leeperExplorer

I'm quite happy to be gullible. Without that vent your black tank would empty like an upside down soda bottle when you pulled the handle.
That might be true if you were going down the road. Most people do not dump while moving. When you are stopped to drain the tanks, the cyclone is not doing anything but normal venting. - tenbearExplorerI share beemerphile1's opinion, but if it works for you, that's what matters.

I would wager that is proof that you had and still do have a leak somewhere. The Cyclone is masking what is really wrong.
Everyone has an opinion. - beemerphile1Explorer

The Cyclone is an add on gizmo that is advertised to suck air from the tank which is impossible. All tanks need to be vented but they don't need (or benefit from) the Cyclone. - beemerphile1Explorer

It is not a closed system it has a vent. If your toilet seal is good, the system vents out when the pressure in the tank goes up due to heat, chemical reaction, or increase in volume and sucks air in when the drain valve is pulled. I do not have a cyclone vent cap but my opinion is they are an unnecessary expense. A piece of wire mesh to stop birds and critters from clogging the vent is all that is needed.
If you must nitpick, it is a closed system other than that one vent. - buzzard616Explorer"The Cyclone is a tax on gullibility."
