Pieces of toilet paper, etc. can get stuck in the groove the blade slides in. That's really all it takes for the blade not to make a tight fit and leak. Also causes the blade to be hard to open and close. It's one of the reasons I used black tank chems to prevent that from happening.
Drain the tank first :W and then open the blade and take a bottle brush and run it around the grooves. And then I'd spray some silicone in the grooves and on the blade while you have it open.
