Why sterilize the wand? Do you also sterilize, say, the tires or awning roller mechanism?
I let all the water that readily will drip out of mine drip (into the toilet or outdoors). If it were visibly soiled (which generally hasn't happened), I'd wipe it down with a paper towel or something. Then I just toss it in the sewer bay next to the sewer hoses and elbow connector and associated whatnot. Finally I wash my hands with soap and water and get on with whatever is next.
