blocked TT wheel

First time for me. Started to pull out of campground at Lake Tahoe yesterday the P/Up would hardly go forward. I first thought trans problem? Emergency cord pulled on TT ? My DW took the crank down thing that you put between the tires but forgot to take the yellow block out from in front of TT tire. I asked her if she had removed it while I was hooking up the TT. She said "of coarse" Oh well. married for 57 years and camping for all those years when times allowed. Hopefully many more camping trips ahead of us
  • This has made me realize that DW checks the outside (my area) before we pull out. But I do not check the inside (her area). And she has found things that I overlooked. My only conclusion can be that the outside is much more difficult then the inside. :)
  • I've crushed two of the cheap yellow chocks when I've forgotten to remove them. Also forgot to remove my X Chocks and nothing moves when those are still in place. Congrats on the 57 years, my parents are on their 62nd and we're on our 15 th.
  • Over the years we developed a system that works for us, might work for you also. When each of us is done with "our" duties, we double check each other. She double checks me and I double check her. Saved us some $$$ over the years, such as buying new antennas, leaving BBQ on picnic table etc
  • Congrats on the 57 years of marriage. You guys are awesome! We got married late in life so are only at 30 years.

I always do a walk around. When I was sure all is OK, my DW would do another walk around. Used to tick me off as I was so sure all was A-OK. Don't know how many times she spotted something I missed. Can't have too many eyes on the situation.

    Safe travels.
  • I've done worse. I left the Lock, and chock in. Ruined a tire when it ran over it. I look at everything now.
  • This has been posted, in humor, I believe; so no need to 'lecture' about doing a walk around. This comment is not directed to any of the above posts. :) We've all been there.
  • I have made that mistake myself and dozens more. I always do a walk around. Thishas saved me several times.
  • Congrats on the 57 years of marriage, we are going on 39 and sometimes it is difficult .

Glad it wasn't the transmission. You are lucky your DW helps you with the disconnect. Many spouses will not help at all. I've seen people pull in and it is a one person show until everything is done. Mine does the inside and will ask about the outside.

I too hope that the two of you have many more years of camping together. JMO
  • Final walk around.........done by BOTH parties
Check hitch, umbilical cord, lights, compartment/door, antenna, windows then
    wheel chocks last item removed.
