Blue Ox Baseplate

I'm looking at a Blue Ox Baseplate (BX-3810) for my 1963 VW beetle. The unit is advertised for 1970 and later VW but, the installation instructions (page 2) say it will fit "1965 and earlier models with link pin suspension". The advantages over the standard VW Tow Bar make it worth the extra money ($125 vs. $379). For one thing you don’t have to get under the car and disconnect every time you can drive the car. It’s also much more durable then the VW Tow Bar.
Before I spend the $400 to purchase it I would like to know if anyone has use this product?

  • I have the blue ox system for my Jeep wrangler and love it. I also have blue ox patriot brake system.
  • You never got a good answer for this thread. So since I'm wanting to do something similar, I'll bump it to the top!

I don't have a VW, but the blue ox baseplate on my Subaru is giving top notch service.
