I purchased a newer dognouse cover (post-2000 model) from an RV surplus store. You may also be able to find them at junk yards.
Anyway, the price was less than $100 as I recall. Go to an RV dealer and look at the doghouse in current E-model Fords. If you like that, you can just unlatch the current one and replace with the newer cover. The early 2000 covers seem to interchange with the prior models.
This dealer advertises as being the largest surplus RV source: Colaw Salvage
I have not used this source but it will be a starting point.
