Just be carefull none the less. I was at or above gvwr with a 24' TT that sually weighed 6000-6500 on the axels, and 650-750 with the hitch! and I had a 9200 GVWR K3500 SW crew cab diesel. I had all of 2200 lbs of payload to work with, family of 6 weighs in at 1100-1200 when kids were adult sized teens....add in some dogs, other stuff. I had 2200-3000 lbs of stuff on the truck axels!
What is the correct sized truck for a given weight trailer, family size etc, will depend on many items. Not saying your new truck is not enough. But weigh it after it is loaded etc more than once. So you know the heavy side, light side, ave side of what you wiegh etc. I varied from 9000-9600 on truck axels. rear was 4800-5400, front usually 4300-4500.
Also, you do NOT need a cat scale to weigh things. Look in yellow pages or equal, there is more than likely a moving company, landscape supply place, other truck stop, scale on the side of the freeway with in easy distance of your place. I can think of 10-15 scales with in 15 miles of my home etc. NONE of them at cat scales!
