Dozment, By all means the first thing you need to do is follow the steps in Les' post to be sure your hitch is set up correctly. Next look at your hitch receiver as Mike suggests, not sure about the newer trucks, but early-century GMs had krap hitches, those pics above are the factory hitch on my Suburban.
The cause of the bucking is definitely harmonics and it's aggravated when your speed and wheelbase match the expansion joint intervals. However, it's MUCH worse when your hitch is not set up correctly and/or you have too much flex in the receiver.
