We're talking about a 2018 Silverado with the max tow options here.
The receiver is not fastened to the bumper - at least it is not on my 2017.
The truck has towing capacity of 11 000 lb and payload will be around 1900 lb. This is fine for that trailer.
I have found some stretches down until you finish with that stretch.
That's correct. The best description I can find of the NHT max trailering package is...
This package features a 9.76-inch rear axle, heavy-duty rear springs, unique shock tuning, enhanced cooling and an integrated trailer brake controller.
No idea what "unique shock tuning" means, but this thing is supposed to handle 11,000 lbs. I confirmed that the hitch is not bolted to the bumper. I see three bolts on each side fastening it to the frame.
The behavior is no different now than it was with my 2014 Chevy 1500 Z78 (without the max trailer package).
I do appreciate all of the suggestions. I'm hoping to find a reasonable (safe) setup without spending a fortune replacing parts, but I'll keep all of the advice in mind. First thing is to check out the WD hitch to be sure the dealership set it up right.
