Brake Controller For New Tow?
We just purchased a 2007 Durango and need to put in a brake controller. Our old tow vehicle currently has a Tekonsha Voyager brake controller and we will leave that one in place as our backup vehicle....

I wen't through a couple of Voyagers over the years. I found that they get weaker as time goes on. When the last one got weak I opened it up for a little inspection. I was an EE so I have some idea of how things work. I was shocked to find the component it uses to regulate output was only a 1.5 amp part. It had a very small heatsink and was being asked to pass better than 5 times its rated current through it. Terrible, cheap design.
No wonder they get weak.
X2, and the P3 has a few more bells and whistles. Both controllers are a good value. I've got a 12 year old original Prodigy (not sure if they called it the P2 at the time) that still performs like new.
