Yep, your P2 or P3 can indeed be rendered useless if that $1 fuse blows and you will never know it until you stomp on the brakes and nothing happens with the brake controller.
hmmmm....this just provokes some thought.....While technically true, I sense a bit of blowing the situation out of proportion since there is a very obvious indicator lit up to tell you the Prodigy is connected and will be working when you step on the brake. You should be paying attention. I know I hate that pilot light being so intense during night time towing.
Besides, I believe most modern vehicles tap into the same circuit sensing brake pedal movement which, while it does tell tell the brake lights to activate, it also sends a signal into the vehicles computer, and is powered / fused differently (more reliable) than the vehicles of long ago that only had power from the fuse going through the pedal switch, through the flasher, and on out to the brake light bulbs.
Personally, I'm fine with a P2 - works the same as the P3, just without some of the extras and save a few bucks. I only have one TV and one trailer with brakes, so I don't need to swap a controller to another vehicle, nor do I need multiple trailer memory and so on....it still 1000 times better than the the junky old time-based unit I used to have.
