@mkirsch: I am assuming the switch itself is bad. I drove the trailer from NJ to Indiana and it pulled/braked fine. Being new to all this, I did not realize I needed a break-away. So I looked and saw I had one and it is connected to the battery (which is new and charged). But - no pin. This trailer was used by my local fire company as a fire prevention demo space. They may have tinkered with the switch. No way of knowing - they did not know much about it. Was used by several people over the years at the fire company. So I mounted the new switch. It has a blue/black/white wire. On the original it has 2 black wires. I have not wired yet. I assume white goes to frame ground and blue/black are wired to wiring tht was in original switch? I have to play around with it some more.
But great advice as usual by all!!!
I will follow up again soon.
