When I worked with the Boy Scouts (ScoutMaster and Assistant ScoutMaster) we had a strict no electronic devices on camping trips policy. Of course the boys and their parents knew that was the rule up-front and it was their choice if they wanted to go camping or not. I don't recall anyone ever dropping out of a camping trip because they couldn't bring their electronics. But, being a Scout camping function we always had activities planned to keep the boys busy and make sure they were bone tired by bedtime.
