I saw the same traps in Iraq around the dining facilities. I think the opressive heat really made the traps smell worse.

I use these at home. Think i got mine at Home Depot. They work great, but stink to high heaven. Neighbors have dogs and never clean up after them.

So far, the best fly trap I've seen was a big zapper that had a vacuum... bugs get lured due to bait, then get sucked through the charged wires. This catches the bugs that fly around it, but not land.
