- BumpyroadExplorerprobably because it only comes with automatic transmission and they don't want it towed 4 down.
bumpy - gboppExplorerWelcome to the forum.
Like bumpy said, GM probably doesn't want the automatic transmission dinghy towed.
Maybe you can tow it 4 down and not hurt anything. I wouldn't take the chance.
And, if the company says it can't be towed 4 down, probably no one makes base plates to fit the vehicle. - twomayersExplorerThe cadillac was listed on the 2013 Dinghy guide and our local dealer says it can be towed. I just wondered if there was a problem and that is why it isn't listed this year.
- sch911ExplorerGenerally only 4 X 4's with a transfer case that have a neutral position are 4 down capable. Most AWD vehicles are not.

ask your dealer if he will warrant the drive train for 200,000 miles and will pay to replace anything that goes wrong. then watch him slip and slide in his droppings to get away from the subject.
bumpy - lj2654ExplorerI have a 2012 SRX and it is automatic and 4 wheel down towable. I just bought it 2 months ago because it is. Not sure why the 2014 isn't though, unless they changed the transmission or something else! right in the owner maual says on mine to pull shifter cover up, then push down plastic button in upper rh corner down and shift into neutral. Thats it, then when you are done towing, put in park and run for 5 minutes or so.

I would "assume" that if the 2014 would be towable that same language would carry over to the new owner's manual. since it evidently didn't, I would be worried about some change. maybe too many towed the 2012s and had to have tranny replaced under warranty$$$
bumpy - lj2654ExplorerI just looked at the FMCA website and the 2014 towing guide and it shows the 2014 Cadillac SRX towable 4 wheel down with 2 or 4 wheel drive automatic transmissions.
- sch911ExplorerThen all that's left to do is look in the owners manual under "recreational towing" to figure out how to set it up.
