By the time you add up the state sales, excise, and other fees Ca charges over 38 cents per gallon, and now your adding more to that. You should care. Sooner or later the states to the east start to filter that same thinking in. And then before you know it you will be paying the same crazy fees and taxes.

Our state is also talking about increasing our fuel taxes. Seems as though the increased fuel efficiency of vehicles has decreased the sale of motor fuels, the prime source of revenues for highway maintenance. Electric vehicles, using the same roadways, will buy no fuel at all, what then.......

I never buy diesel in California. Fuel up before I enter and then again right after I exit.
