California RV reviews

We are trying decide between 2 locations in California to work
for the summer.
Anyone have experience with the KOA Watsonville/Monterey versus
the KOA Salina, CA
Thanks

  • If the original poster is talking about Salinas, California, I would highly recommend you take the advice of torinoscj429 and run away, run away.
  • I'm from Salinas, and I MUST warn you and everyone else: Don't stay in Salinas! Unless you are heavily armed and are looking for trouble...Monterey County has the highest per capita muder rate of any city in the US, even worse than South-Central Los Angeles. Bullets fly in Salinas 24/7. Go to Watsonville or Santa Cruz...nice mountains behind Santa Cruz.
  • Having stayed at both last year I prefer the one at Watsonville. It seemed newer and we were offered a tour to pick our site. Which I liked.

It is more off the beaten path and has a lot to do at the campground. If you have kids. We did not have any so we stayed near the rear of the campground. There are some very nice spots that have a concrete pad with BBQ and Swing. The staff members are really nice and helpful.

It is closer to Santa Cruz and its attractions.
  • I think there is only one KOA for the locations you gave. We’ve stayed at the KOA Salina which is north of Salina on the 101 and east of Watsonville, It’s an older park as most of them in that area are. There also is a KOA in Moss Landing we also stayed at that one. Nice park.

We just pulled out of that area but this time we stayed at a new park in Greenfield, CA called Yanks RV Park and Resort, nice place.
  • I haven't stayed a either. Being from the area I would say the Santa Cruz/Monterey has the better potential for off hours activities. I don't see a Watsonville KOA.
  • I haven't seen either but I'm sure you can find photos, sat view, reviews, etc on line. Having seen both areas many times, I think the Watsonville location is much more desireable. It's almost in Santa Cruz and there is lots to see and do there, as opposed to Salinas which is pretty much a farming community. Although, maybe you want a more quiet park? I'm betting Watsonville gets much more tourist traffic.
