in addition to lead in some brass, up until about 10 years ago virtually all plastic garden hoses, plastic wire insulation, and many many other plastics contained lead as well. made it easier to mold and form. Not very high levels, but lead none the less. In about 2008 or so international and some US laws prohibited lead in any products for children and in many other products. at that time lead was phased out of plastics, metals, solder (yup, virtually all solder used by industry today is completely lead free, and the change over was not an easy one, I was involved heavily with it in electronics mfg.)
