ALL brass had lead in it until a few years ago when it was deemed illegal, we lived with it without adverse effects for the last 100 years or so. But there is no filter that will remove lead....
It actually depends on the water, if it is more acidic/corrosive it can increase the lead in water, that is why all municipal water systems are required to check for lead and copper at the customers inside faucets. We are not actually checking the condition of your residential plumbing but the condition of our water.
