Darn, I gotta get out west. The only Dinosaurs I see along the East coast campgrounds are Drunkosaurus :)

I really like a good campfire that is burning good seasoned wood. What I really HATE is when people break camp and leave after setting fire to their GARBAGE in the fire pit! Happened just this morning and the smoke came straight to our site. I went over and put it out but should not have been necessary. :M

All of the news reports and complaints regarding the smoke was ironic because it just smelled like a bunch of campfires burning in a crowded campground. I wondered if asked how many of the folks complaining would have responded that they love campfires.

normally, campfires are part of camping, and we know you can't always control where they smoke goes and sometimes can't even control how much of it there is.

We were camping around Thanksgiving one year. I got called into work one day and, of course, had been around the fire for a few days. Several people at work wondered if the place was on fire.

We drove hundreds of miles to a festival. Parked in an open field, few trees here & there. We got there on Thursday about noon. The festival didn't start till Friday. Anyway's, unknown to us... many, many Cub scouts came in on Friday, to the left of us. Late Friday evening a camper came in, parked directly in front of us. Early Sat morning, about 8am, a couple in their 60's & a couple in their 80's came out of the camper, started a fire in the blowing wind, must have been 90+*'s, proceeded to sit in their in the bag chairs, arms folded, & stared @ the fire. No, they didn't get on the tractor tram to go visit the festival. They sat there, arms folded, copious amounts of HOT smoke directly coming into every part of our camper, Cub scouts DOING all they can & will do on the left. Hubby @ noon says--pack'er up, we're going home. We drove hundred of miles home. Yep, fun trip.

We just came from a campground that was packed over the weekend with lots of fires and everyone had them at the end of there sites away from there neighbors and all was good. But go figure,, the campground emptied out yet a rv was put next to us,, all good but they moved there fire ring so it was right under our window. And again fires mid day while it was 80 degrees plus LOL.. When I shut the window to stop the smoke from coming in I saw the fellow give his wife a big smile. I guess having the only fire going in the park and smoke rolling into another's rv was pretty funny stuff. Of course they soon went inside with the air running and left the smoking fire burn LOL!!
It was ok because we picked up camp pretty early and I didn't mind sitting with the engine warming up a little longer than normal LOL!! What is it they say about to wrongs??

This year, I took a dryer sheets and hung them all around and put several on a/c to have air blown on sheets, really seemed to help. Worked better than Fre breeze. Kept rv door and windows open weather permitting.
