Please do not take my original post as an attack on all camps hosts. It was not meant to be. Was mainly looking for clarification as to what a camp host's responsibilities are and if this was normal. And yes I fully understand that stuff happens and people have things to do.
Unfortunately where I live is way outside the radius that is recommended to transport wood. And yes I did drive around to every place that normally had wood but they where sold out for the season. So that left me with a stock pile under lock and key a short walk from the camper.
Do wish the host would have done something different. Sure.
Could have left the key with fellow camper? Leave it unlocked till you get back? But that's just me.
Regardless I survived and will return to that campground as it is still on of my favorites with views like this.
