Passport American has saved us many hundred dollars over the years. If you are retired and can be a little flexible, it works out well. We do not find the restrictions that hard to work with. Often if a park is not busy, they are happy to have your business even if it is during a restricted time. In over 14 years, there have been 2 parks that we choose to pull out of after taking a look around. Most of our stops are for overnights and if a park is really nice, we stay longer.
I'm lifetime with Good Sam but the same discount is available most places with AARP or AAA. Whenever we plan on using Passport American we renew at that time. One or two night stay pays for that one and you can renew on the phone just before check in.
Don't know on Escapees but have used KOA in the past but now seldom stay there.
I usually use Good Sam, I have always received the discounts, I am a member anyway using the flying J gas discounts saves me enough to pay the GS membership..
I was Good Sam for a bit. yes got discounts which was nice but not used enough. Left it cause we only like state, federal parks now. We want outside the box and more COE or State or boondock type camping now. hate private CGs. So we don't opt for any membership things now.
They are all worth it IF they fit where you travel, if you don't use them very much or not at all, then they are not worth it. We use Passport America, GS, and the America the Beautiful Senior Pass, and Military, as LadyRVer said, be sure to check out their web sites first to see if they fit how & where you travel.
Hi. We like to travel 350 to 400 miles on our cross country trips. So we use campgrounds that fit this... We have used good Sam and KoA which ever fits our milage. We have menbership, at both.. I have no experience with other clubs. The discounts on both Koa and Good sams, are small but do add up if you use them alot. Jim2007.
Escapees, Good Sam and FMCA are RVing organizations that offer more than discounts at RV parks. I am a member of some of them because they have good magazines and other benefits.
You will only know if a club like KOA or Passport America will save you money if you do the math yourself based on where you stay. For example, we found that were staying in KOAs a lot one year because of the places we were going to and the KOA membership would more than pay for itself. Where do you travel and where do you like to stay? Then you can figure out if it is worth the cost.
