Pass Through Storage

We used to have a TT like that. Not sure they do it that way sometimes. If you lock yourself out, you can always crawl in from under the bed... :)

Ours had 2 or 3 door hinges (like on an RV bathroom door) and had gaps and wasn't very well secured to the wall. I took them off, mounted a length of 1x2 against the forward wall and then installed a piano hinge. It's possible the lid may not lay flat when down and could use some tweaking. Had that problem in our current TT and had to do a little cutting of the luan and re-positioning of the framing on one side. Otherwise seems to me the mattress and bedding is going to stop insects from flying in except when you lift the lid and have a pass-through door open .

Better solution if you are handy is you could cut the OSB (or plywood?) and permanently affix the forward piece on top of the pass-through and install hinges or piano hinge between the two pieces so that when you lift the lid up only the under-bed storage is opened. May need to re-position the gas props and/or change their length and force rating. Some TTs are built this like our KZ.

Or for those with more advanced woodworking skills, you could install drawers or doors on the underbed storage "box" so you don't need to lift the lid.

Add some caulking. Put some insulation on the underside of the bed platform. Those will keep out bugs and make the trailer more comfortable.

It's also easy to put a vertical divider in at some point. In my experience, things can roll or slide around so they are inaccessible from the outside doors.

X2. I was able to see light between the carpeted section of the night stand and the wall. Caulked it from underneath. Problem solved.

Buy some pet screening, cut it and staple it in place where you need it. It's very durable and tough to rip. HD or Lowe's .

or cut some pieces of plywood to build an interior separator between the outside and underbed area.
I once made the underbed area only accessible from inside the TT. The outside storage area was only accessible from the outside.

Personally, i got out of the habit of leaving those doors open because the rain spouts allowed water to drip ( or flow) onto he open lids that i sometimes forgot to close. The opened door let the water in. (especially the one on the drivers side) :S

Caulk it.

I'd be more concerned with hot or cold air coming in than insects.

Spray foam to seal?

Never noticed a bug, alive or dead, in the pass through. Coming in the door, yeah. (Not dead ones)

our front passthru is also open to under the bed, we love it

I added weather stripping in a couple of spots under the mattress board

If you get 1 bug in the trailer because of that you would be lucky. you will get more coming in from the door opening and closing.
