Waaaay back in the dark ages (the sixties) when we started trailer camping with our three little kids, they would each pick up three pieces of trash from the beach and take it to the trash barrel each time we spread out our towels. It wasn't the same then as it is now. It was just part of teaching them that they should be responsible campers. Now I am afraid I would have to tell little kids NOT to touch the things that people toss around.
I still vividly remember watching one of the "pigs" toss out a candy wrapper onto the sand while my little guys were out picking up trash. She had to have seen them and certainly heard me telling them to pick things up, but apparently it went in one ear and out the other.
And yes, she is now probably the grandmother of some of the current crop of pigs.
