In all my years of camping, only one KOA experience. It was gross, and that's being diplomatic. I could hear the neighbor snoring in their rig. Much prefer boondocking, with respites at motels or nice state parks.
Couple week-ends ago we were at a state park in Indiana. I got up early to take our dogs for their morning walk. We passed several tents and a couple pop-ups. I was surprised how much "snoring" could be heard. My dogs were good and never barked, but they sure wanted to go up to the tents and the pop-ups and see what the noise was all about.
I've come to a conclusion about snoring. Although snoring is annoying if someone else is doing it, I think it's nature's way of originally protecting humans. In the wild, primative, before civilization, when humans lived as wild as any other animal, I think the one natural self-protection humans had was the ability to snore while sleeping. And think about it, doesn't "snoring" sound like a growling animal? Well, if a predator came upon a sleeping, snoring human, they might be likely to walk away, thinking the animal is in attack mode. I have no scientific proof this is true or not, it's just my own thoughts. But next time you hear someone "growling" in their camper, tent, RV at night, just consider they are protecting their turf....while sleeping! It will put a smile on your face and a little chuckle under your breath.
