Googling: "McCormick Place Marshalling Yard" yields lots of info - including "trip advisor" site with "animated" pro and con - as well as a poster who "camped" there this month.

Also - more "RV oriented" commentary in RV park reviews, etc.
(With less Chgo resident "animosity" than the trip advisor site, LOL!)

No it's not statewide. There is no state law saying any such thing.
The No Trucks is a Chicago city ordinance. If another town wants similar restriction then that city has to pass their own ordinance. But what one city has on their books in no way affects the next city or the state.

Four years ago we stayed at Fish Lake Beach Camping Resort at Volo and drove in to Town. Never again. Two years we stayed at Leisure Lakes Resort and rode the train in to town. Recommended.

If your son lives in the northern suburbs it would better to find a CG in Wisconsin than Indiana.

You go by the name:

Looks like you were given all the close campgrounds.

As to no trucks on LSD... I had a Ranger and never had a problem going on LSD even though they are banned. I think they may have backed off on enforcing that because there are so many pick ups out there now. I don`t understand the law! my X weighs more than twice what a Ranger weighs and twice as big and it is legal on LSD.

We went in 2011, stayed at Indiana Dunes State Park. We rode the South Shore Line train into Chicago. Took one of these 75-Minute Architecture River Tours that we really enjoyed.
