Got a new Flashlight for Christmas. 500 Lums at 236 meters. That thing lights up the world. The backyard looked like daylight last night. It's great. You could spot light deer with it, If it wasn't illegal
I imagine you mean the beam is rated to be visible at 236 meters. Congrats on your new light, it's great to have one of those.
I'm a flashaholic myself and have several bright ones. One of my favorites is an Eagletac GX25A3, a compact 3 mode flashlight with over 900 lumens on max from 3 AA cells (good NiMH rechargeables or lithium AAs are recommended over alkalines due to the high current draw). LED lights have progressed by leaps and bounds in recent years.
My brightest light is a custom modified 7-mode Maglite with 6 XM-L LEDs for a total output of 4000 lumens on high. It puts my car headlights to shame.
