Camping or other discounts?

Here in Ontario, if you have a valid Ontario disability parking permit, you get 50% off any Ontario provincial park. You also require no fishing license to fish anywhere in Ontario if you have the parking permit.

Seniors also get a discount on fees.

None of these discounts cost you anything upfront. We don't pay for our disabled parking permits. You just show proof of age for the senior discount, no fee

Does your province or state offer any discounts.

  • Yes - there are many parks in Alabama that accept it. Payne Lake south of Tuscaloosa is one of them. We volunteered there.

The federal park pass/permit is offered for disabled also. It is good in National Parks, forest service parks and corp of engineer parks. Some state parks may also accept them, although not technically a part of their park system.

We have several campgrounds that qualify on the NP Pass.
I stayed at 'Coleman Lake' in the Choccoloca Wild Life Management Area as a Corp of Engineers guest.
$8.00/night with Sr. Citizens discount too.
    (Remote mountain area, but nice)

  • Illinois State Parks:

    • NO admission fees.

    • Free camping for resident disabled veterans (pay for electric)

    • 50% discount on camping for resident seniors (Mon-Thur).
  • Wisconsin state parks do not give disability rates, but if you buy a yearly sticker for 50 bucks you get a second one for the same house hold 25 bucks if you are a resident
  • I believe that Virginia does have a discounted state parks permit. My recollection is that the annual permit is 50% off for seniors, and gets you free admission and discounted camping fees. I don't have one, however, because I don't camp in the state parks here often enough to justify the $100+ price of the discounted annual permit.

But I did spring for the $10 Federal lifetime pass (deal is for those over age 62) that gets me free admission (for the whole carful of folks) and 50% discount in camping fees. Paid for that the first time I used it. I bought it in Death Valley, and didn't have to spring for the $15 admission fee. It's been great since then at Grand Canyon south and north, Bryce, Zion, Sherando Lake, Skyline Drive, and more. I look forward to using it several times a season for years to come.
  • Well here in Michigan our glorious Republican Governor Snyder stopped giving Senior Citizens a discount for our State Park permits.
    Talk about a cheap skate......
