Sums it up nicely.
X2!
Cigarette smoke is a biggie for us. For some it is like marking their territory. It comes from inside another person's body. It's offensive and causes me a headache and sinus issues. Campfire smoke isn't a problem mostly (except for the low smolder that I think bothers most others, too), but there is something quite different about cigarettes.
We have a HTT and like to keep our windows open. If we are outside, it's disturbing. If we smell it inside our own RV...inexcusable.
If you want to smoke, it's your choice. But remember, most people do not enjoy sharing it with you. Just because they may tolerate it doesn't mean they enjoy it.
Remember, if you are smoking, it is YOUR responsibility to consider where your smoke is going. I wouldn't park my big diesel rig in front of your site with the tailpipe pointing right at you and idle it for hours, stinking up you and your rig. That would be rude.
So smokers...be kind. Keep it down wind and try to keep it to a minimum when around others. It really is appreciated!
Disclaimer: This is not an "Anti-smoking post," rather please respect others and consider how your actions can affect others.
For the record, I am not a smoker. But, how is it the smoker's resposibility to consider where the smoke is going? One cannot control the breeze. If he or she are on their site, and the CG allows smoking, there is no issue other than that of your personal bias.
In this day and age, everyone seemingly wants to blame any discomfort they encounter on someone else. If the other campers are following all posted rules and are on their site when smoking, it then becomes your personal resposibility to protect yourselves.
If ciggy smoke makes you as sick as you say (yet somwehow campfire smoke does not), it is your personal responsibility to protect yourself. There are plenty of smoke-free CG out there.
Personally, I think smoking is just nasty. But until it is illegal, (or against CG regulations) the smoker has every right to smoke on their site.
