My first memory of camping was with quilts across the clothes line in our back yard and then in an old canvas army tent with 4 other families in a national park about 25 miles from home. It rained heavy that night and I remember waking up and one of the dads was standing beside the fire with a big umbrella frying bacon on a stick!!
I had to try it the next day and I was hooked.....on frying thick-sliced bacon on a stick and on camping. DH and I have camped off and on since we got married. He is an Eagle Scout, so it was just second nature for him. We purchased a 15' TT and put it on a permanent lot on the lake, then ended up buying a mobile home. DH bought me a popup for Christmas one year, then we moved to a hybrid, then a TT bunkhouse and now the 5'er. I am considering a Class A DP, but we will have to see about the $$ situation since we are both retired, but still have kids in elementary and middle schools.
