Did CW actually stock the part or were they having it sent from another distributor?
I might have some idea. Having owned a business that used FedEx Ground and UPS on a daily basis, we regularly shipped very fragile items (ceramics) that we would ALWAYS hand pack and double box attempting to avoid shipping damage, often, without success. Having our product damaged in shipping is a HUGE pain in the XXX for everyone involved. I accused FedEx of playing warehouse soccer with our merchandise when it got really bad. They did not think that was funny however they could do nothing to avoid damaging our products regularly in shipment. My guess. After having ordered from Amazon and seeing the same care we exercised in our packaging, they are trying to avoid shipping damage using larger than necessary boxes and extra packing materials. IMO, money well spent.
