Camping World RV Service:Good or Bad?

Has anyone had any experience with service and repairs at Camping World? Their technical knowledge may be there but are they responsive to your needs? Do they keep you updated as to when parts are coming in? If they have been ordered? When can you expect service to be done? If you leave a message do they call you back that same day? Do you have to ask to speak to a Supervisor? Are Florida stores good compared to others? Do the service advisors realize you live in another town far away and you need info on your pending service in order to schedule the time to take in your rv?
  • They are second to none :S

Maybe I did not phrase that right, there are none others that are second :h

Still didn't get it right, OH WELL. :D
  • Like any other business, it all depends on the store. I have had good and bad
  • As with all franchise, or any business for that matter, there are good and bad.
The sad part is a bad experience at one is all too often used as an excuse to label all.
Very few CW dealerships are equiped to do chassis work.
  • Cross out the words Camping World and ask " RV Service, good or bad".

You will get the same answers. You will hear both good and bad reviews.

We have been RVing for 40 plus years and have used CW and many others many times. The worst stories would not be about CW. A few times just so-so not good ones, but mostly very good.

I bought my 05 Fleetwood DP new out of state. All the Florida Fleetwood dealers I tried to use were horrible at best. About year two, the CW in St.Augustine took on Fleetwood and honored the factory warranty. I had a structural issue with the kitchen slide that other dealers had been ignoring, stalling, lieing, etc. including you-know-who near Tampa so I tried CW.

They did the 40 plus hour repair cheerfully and competently, no hassle, no lieing, glad to take the work.

I wouldn't let La Mesa change a light bulb.

Next point is that RV repair, esp warranty, is a quagmire of problems for service centers. The various suppliers eg Norcold, Coleman, etc all have different processes and lead time to get approval and/or parts for warranty repair. Often at the owners inconvenience. Long waits, wrong parts, are routine and not always the dealers fault. If you have multiple issues with different suppliers, it can take weeks to sort it out.

I will also say that pretty much across the board, most RV service centers are not great at mechanical chassis issues. RV part, they are ok. Drive trains are best left to specialty mechanics and the DP has been easy to get good mechanical work done at truck centers. The gas coach, not so much.
  • You can go to the 'Camping World Service and Installation' sub-forum and read till your hearts content.

Lots of 'problems' posted....and some responses from 'Rapid Response Team'

CW doesn't come up when I am looking for RV service......mobile service and local RV repair shops if I can't do it myself.

Have you contacted 'RV Master, Inc.' in Cutler Bay OR 'Chuck's RV Repair' in Miami?
  • There has been a lot of pros and cons regarding CW and their service. Do a search and you will see what folks said. Me personally, I think I would check out another facility. Safe travels.

  • Well lets put it this way. I went to camping world in Nashville to get a front end alignment done on our motor home. Set up appointment and stayed in town the extra days to accommodate them with the appointment time. They took in motor home drove it around to service and called me a hour later to say we don't do alignments on motor homes. We just align travel trailer axles. DUH . . .
