Can I just brag for a moment?

I'm positively glowing. My DD21 hosted a tent campout in the North Georgia mountains this weekend. She has all her own equipment. DD took her 4 BFFs, two of whom we introduced to tent camping when they were 13. She also introduced her boyfriend and another girl's boyfriend to the wonders of tent camping.

The weather was awesome, the leaves were beautiful, everyone had a great time. Her boyfriend came home raving about the campout and can't wait to go again. I don't know if they will be able to go again this season--North GA gets it's first hard freeze around the 1st or 2nd week of November. But I am so pleased that DD is carrying on the beloved family tradition. :D

    Thanks. She and her roommate (her #1 BFF) are tentatively planning a road trip to Yellowstone in 2015, after they graduate college in May. We'll see if that pans out. We took DD on a cross-country trip in 2007 which included Yellowstone, among other parks. She was completely in love with the place and is practically salivating to go out there again.

    LOL, no, but I should have. That girl is not afraid of anything. She's all of 5'3" and 105-lbs but she has two brothers, so she can really hold her own. :B Bears should be afraid of HER!

    To OP... your post is great and it is so rewarding to see our kids follow something we brought them up with.

    I traveled with my parents back in the 50's in a "house" trailer (now TT)
    and started tent camping with my DD when she was 4 yo.

    You done good!!!!

    I bet that was a happening campout.:B (For those oldsters in the group, that means "I imagine the campout was filled with thrilling activities that appeal to young boys.") I love that our grown kids are keeping the family camping tradition alive.

    Oh, geez Louise :R I didn't realize there were so many crotchety old grumps on here. Nobody bats an eye at "5ver" "FHU" "PUP" "TT" "MH" "TC" or "CPAP" but you're choking on DD21 and BFF?? I'm 58 and even I know what DD and BFF means.

    For everyone who has been living in a cave for the past 25 years...
    DD21= dear daughter 21 years old
    BFF= best friends forever

    Incidentally, these 5 BFFs have been together since 5th grade, which I think is remarkable. I'm just thrilled that these lovely young women want to get out and enjoy nature for the weekend rather than shopping for shoes or hanging out at the bar.

    . BFF prolly means best friends forever since boyfriends were there.

    Chock, Glad your DD got the chance to go and take her friends. I know you are proud that she felt capable of hosting and taking along friends who are new to camping. It is scary taking non-campers tent camping for the first time. Glad things went well.
