Can I rant? Driving stuff...

Picked up the trailer today after some warranty... I hate the rain and driving in Washington.

Was on I-5 and Highway 16 from Tacoma to Poulsbo WA, about an hour drive.

To the Lady in the Subaru who had to pass to cut me off with no turn signal while I am towing 57 feet of truck and trailer that made me hit the brakes so hard I could see the side of my trailer coming around so you could slow down and exit right in front of me 3 miles down the road.

To the worker rider driver(this is a bus the with an employee driving other employees home) who hung out in the left lane next to me for 3 miles going 62 MPH then decided to get in behind me because you were scared to pass even after I slowed down to let you in front of me I hope your Government furlough last longer than 22 days (These busses operate for the Navy shipyard). I could not be a truck driver, people are just inconsiderate. There were others but right now I need a drink, maybe two.

Thanks for listening.

One suggestion: When you see a truck or bus or car with a company logo AND PHONE NUMBER on it, and the driver has his head up his exhaust pipe (Think about that line a bit) have your co-pilot call the phone the number and tell the fleet safety guy what's going on.. Including the vehicle fleet control number (If there is none then it's likely a one vehicle fleet).

The driver will, at the very least, get a new weight reduction program when he returns to the yard.. You know, "just a little chat with the boss"
  • Bad drivers are a fact of life. It really drives DH nuts!! He will curse, honk, 'gesture', lecture, etc. to bad drivers. He will wave someone into traffic, and if they don't immediately respond-he cusses and cuts them off! It's a joy to be in the passenger seat!
I make excuses for people. 'Oh, he must be driving like a maniac because he has low blood sugar, She must have gotten a call that one of her kids is sick. etc.'
My kids say I drive like, 'Miss Daisy'. I stay in the right lane, with a nice following distance. If the light is yellow/red, I drift to the light. Try to keep the RPMs low. I always say, 'I pity the fool behind me, that's in a hurry!'
  • I drove a school bus for 10 years. Some drivers are so self centered they are more important then everyone else out there..
  • I think it gets worse everyday or my patience is getting lower. The problem is basically many drivers are just simply rude and inconsiderate plus more and more drivers are distracted by the use of cell phones and texting while driving. People are rude because they mostly cannot be held accountable for their actions. If you honk your horn at them, they mostly just thumb their noses at you or make other ugly jesters. It is just a reflection of this 'me first' attitude that is so prevalent in our world today.

  • I feel your pain. When we're heading to south Georgia, Atlanta is the same nightmare.
