Nothing has changed with Carfax and other services. Best to buy from the original owner who has all the repair and maintenance records and will sign a full disclosure form that accompanies the bill of sale.
A autobody shop can do an inspection and tell you the state of the coach and whether or not it has been in a collision and whether or not it will need repairs to the frame, suspension, steering components, etc. in the near future. I would also write down the model and serial numbers for the fridge, stove, inverter, and other items and check online as to any recalls or repair problems so you know in advance and can negotiate a better price to allow for this.
