Okay our last trip to boon-dock. Could this weekend have gotten any worse?On the way up the mountain we stop for breakfast...it didn't settle. We get to the last Giant station to fill up with gas before heading back into the very remote camp spot. I finish filling up the truck and pull over in the parking lot and stepping up into the TT it lets loose. After cleaning up me, the toilet, and the floor we get to our remote site and I shower and change my jeans.The rest of the weekend went okay.Heading back down we stop at the good'ol Giant. I get the hoses out, geez how can this trip get worst. I go to hook up to the TT dump and pull off the cap, you got it, the black valve was not closed, 3 inches of... well you know. I cap it and close the valve, now I still have to reopen, what a mess. Took me forever to clean the station, the pavement, me, and drove home waiting to shower again. Oh and there was a waiting line. How embarrassing and historical.Your stories?

I think similar has happened to all of us at least once in our experiences. We're not perfect you know, we're human! Afterall, soap and water was invented for just this situation!

Here is mine... a friend told me when I bought the new trailer to lose the blue sanitation hose that came with the trailer, it was cheap, go with the grey one he said. Well one weekend the family was camping for the weekend, we pulled up to the sanitation station, hooked the blue hose up and started, the hose had a real bend in it so I kicked it to straighten it out. The blue hose split in half and you know what was flying everywhere, it was mayhem!!!!The next day I bought a grey hose and have been dry ever since.:E

I think I will stick to my padded bucket and numerous plastic trash bags :).

I have a bathroom grey and then a galley grey tank. I have a y connection at the CG sewer. My routine before leaving is to empty the galley tank first. Then disconnect before emptying black and bathroom grey tank. Well the last trip out I forgot to reconnect the hose to the sewer before opening the black tank. It only took about 30 seconds to realize. Quickly closed the valve. But then I had to clean the mess up. Man does that stuff flow fast when the tank is near full.
Did not get any on me though.

But thought of the movie RV when it happened. Just like when I read the OP.

But because it WAS posted - it might save some poor soul the same situation. I can't tell you HOW many times, as I've RVed through the years, that somebody's tale of woe rattled around my head as I set up or took down a campsite, so I double-checked myself and was spared from needing to post a similar story.

So from ME - a grateful "thanks" to those who've bared their souls on these forums :-)

Many years ago I drove a propane delivery truck. I backed up to a tank at an old adobe residence and promptly dropped the truck into an old 'cess pool' which was a precursor to a septic tank. It was just covered with rotting boards and some dirt. It took a crane & a tow truck to get that 2500 gal truck out.

Have you ever fallen through an old septic tank? We have. Had to build a road under us to drive out. Took 2 days and a night sleeping on quite a slant!

We were ranch sitting a 10,000 acre ranch in Oregon and when we pulled in we were directed to this spot. The rancher didn't know there was a septic tank there. Luckily, on a ranch there is a tool for everything and a crew that can fix anything. :)

Watching a new RV'er take the cap off with obviously the black tank valve open and then his wife gives him big black garbage bag to catch the contents of the black tank. He's covered with sewage and so is the CG site.

Then watch him trying to move this garbage bag full of sewage trying to figure out just what to do with it.

You just can't make up stuff like this! :B
