Wind and canopies don't go well together. Even a $2000 professional grade canopy will fly in the air if not well staked down. (Well staked down as in using steel fenceposts 2-3 feet in the ground.)
The average consumer grade EZ-Up will end up as a postmodern art sculpture come high winds. On the flipside, if one can stake it down well enough, it does make a decent camping tent.
