- BubbaChrisExplorerThe air in California is better than it was decades ago because of all the regulation.
Not 100% on topic, but I have heard of visitors getting cited/fined for having non CARB gasoline containers for their gennys and off road toys.
My relatives still living in CA thank you in advance for your compliance. - Chris_BryantExplorer IIOr you could vacation in China to see what life without CARB would be like...
- Dave_H_MExplorer III would think that simply looking to see if any sensors were after the converter would determine if whether the puter would notice a change in the system or not.
Not to worry about me folks. If the catcon is a catalytic converter, my Triton still exhales thru one or is it two? - 96Bounder30EExplorer III used to have a Camaro that I took the Cat converter off and punched out the fill plug.......emptied the beads into a box and put them on a shelf.......ran it that way for years even with doing the 2 year smog check.....it was visually there so no problem.....when I sold the car I handed the guy the box of beads and told him what it was.......
- navegatorExplorerIf you are moving to California and are going to register your vehicles in an area that requires a smog inspection then you need to have them inspected, if you are going to be a tourist for a short time no one is going to bother you with an inspection, for an oil change the lube monkeys will not care or even notice what is or is not supposed to be there.
navegator - campiglooExplorerI thought very seriously about a doing a delete on my diesel. If I only traveled in sane states I might do it. Part of my travel plans include the northwest. All I need is to take it in for an oil change or something and have a greenie report me to the epa psychos. 10 grand for the fine, shut down until thousands are spent returning back to new car specs. Not even worth it.
- hotpepperkidExplorerFirst off removing emissions equipment is illegal and I don't care one way or the other. If you remove it you have to have a programmer that can remove the scaning of the sensors so you need a programmer that has a program to do so
- CavemanCharlieExplorer IIIWhat's a "Catcon" ? I'm guessing by Triton you mean a Ford Triton Engine. I would think that if you remove emissions equipment from modern engines the computer is smart enough to sense it and then it may put the truck into "Limp Home" mode which will make it run real bad. There may be aftermarket computer program devices that will get around this though. But, by the time you get them installed and set up right you might not save yourself any money.
Before damming the converter (if that is what you are doing) I would take the truck to a second mechanic and get a second opinion. The mechanic you have now might have missed something.
