Thank you Barney. I thought he was wrong but trying to convince them they are wrong you know how that goes.
We are looking for a F150 with the max tow package in years 2011- 2013 and I have been told to make sure the truck has an integrated brake controller, 3.73 rear axel ratio and the weight is 7700 lbs on the sticker.
Do you know what the cargo weight should be around if it does have the max pay load. We have looked a ALOT of F150's this past holiday and the highest we saw in that number was 1300. Some said the truck had the max tow other had no idea but I would have thought that number would have been a little higher if it did.
Am I wrong?
To narrow down your search you may want to spend some time in Ford's website looking at their payload package chart.

It'll give you some starting points to look at. For example you'll quickly realize that going with a long bed as opposed to short bed will cost you some payload because the long bed truck weighs more but has the same gvwr. Also the ecoboost has a lower gvwr for some reason than the 5.0. Also realize those numbers are for a base model. My truck's actual numbers are almost 300 lbs less than what the chart says because of the options. The chart says payload for my body style (5.0 4x4 super crew short bed) is 1700 in base trim. My trucks actual payload is 1420. Gotta have my leather, sunroof, and nav/sound system :). A truck I looked at without the sunroof or upgraded stereo had 50 lbs more payload than mine but those options are so nice the 330 days a year I'm not towing!
