- LynnmorExplorerI put new Carlisle tires on my snowmobile trailer. Two had cracks and bumps after first use. They sent me two new ones. Then one developed a large goose egg in the middle of the tread. All failures were before the tits were worn off. Scrapped all six and put Kenda Maypops on. There are no good choices in these small tires. The larger sizes that are used on travel trailers may be OK, I don't know.
- fj12ryderExplorer IIIMy toyhauler came with 235/85-16 Carlisle tires. The tires were checked frequently and always kept at 80 psi. I had 2 tires blow out after less than 2 years and 8,000 miles. IMO that says it all. I replaced the ones that hadn't blown with Sailun, and so far, so good.
Carlisle tires on a tall heavy 5th wheel is a recipe for trailer damage at some point. IMO of course. - salemExplorerMy son's trailer came with Carlisle's. He kept them inflated at the proper PSI and ran them for over five years. Never a problem. I would never go out and buy a set, but if the trailer came with them I'd run them while keeping a close eye on them just to be safe. Then again, I'd keep a close eye on any brand along with the proper inflation.
- donn0128Explorer IIThey go on things like Gators that are low speed vehicles. Seem OK there.
- Fish__n___GritsExplorerI've heard some awful tales about Carlisle tires over the years, but I've been using them on boat trailers, small equipment trailers, and my 5th wheel camper for years with no complaints whatsoever. Many of the things you hear about bad tires are caused by under inflation, overloading and speed. In my opinion (as a long time user) stick with the manufacturer's rating for the tire and its use and they will serve you well.
- Bamaman11ExplorerAren't they just more Chinese WillPops?
What's funny is that they don't show to be bad tires online customer recommendations. Checkout DiscountTireDirect.com or TreadDepot.com or TireRack.com.
For my money, give me Bridgestone Duravis R250 ribbed tires, or the Michelin rib tire or Goodyear G614's. My Duravis' were $195 each @ Costco--reasonably priced for such beefy tires.
