Funny, ST tires carry about a 15 percent higher load rating than a similar size LT tire, which can be used right to their max rating. Yet Carlisle recommends that 20% also!
"The combined capacity of all of the tires should exceed the loaded trailer weight by 20 percent"
Form this statement it seems they want pin or hitch weight included in the tire capacity.
Carlisle also makes this statement.
"Best practice. Do not exceed 60 mph while towing a trailer."
Seems they have limited faith in their product.
Funny how so many think that ST tires are something special!
If they were as good as the marketing hype about them, then we would not be reading all the failure threads.
There is that age old adage that you get what you pay for! ST tires that are OEM on new trailers cost the manufacturer next to nothing, as they buy tires and wheels pre-mounted by the truck or train car load from Tireco and Tredit.
