Carlisle USA tires

Anyone have these or offer any opinions on them? I am looking to replace my trailer tires and I stumbled upon these http://www.treaddepot.com/tire/519400.html . They say made in the USA, which makes me more confident in them. Problem is, I can't really find any info on these, good or bad.

  • I just bought 4 Carlisle Radial Trail RH Load range D in ST205-75R 15, last week. The newer Trail RH have an additional nylon cap over the plys, just like a Maxxis. Load rating for the range D tires is 2150 lbs. They are made in Carlisle's plant in China.
I probably would have gone with an LT tire but my axles and older rims, with deep offset, dictated size and there were no LT tires in this size. Since the tires support 5000 lbs, I'm fairly confident they will work out well.
  • Put a set of Carlisle's on three years and many thousand miles ago with no complaints. Of course I am careful not to scrape the sidewalls on curbs, avoid potholes as much as possible, and keep them aired up to the recommended pressure.

Go to the Radial Trail models. They are their newest even though about 2 yrs old but many of us are finding them working well so far. A newer design for them as they had a lot of issues in some of their older tires. There is a little on the forum about these but since a newer product there is limited reviews.

Give these a try and let us know how they work for you. Good luck and have fun.
  • Have had real good luck with Carlisle trailer tires. Had their bias tires on the trailer from 2008 to this July and then changed to their radial tire. Immediately left on a 2000 mile trip and had NO problems, or loss of any air. Good tire, as far as I am concerned.
  • I wouldn't trust a Carlisle tire until they have at least some good history behind them.
  • I am not into using bias ply tires for highway use… they would be fine for local and secondary roads…
  • I had Carlsile tires on my 31 foot Springdale to replace the original Duro tires on the camper. The Duro lasted 5 years, but started showing signs of dry rot, so replaced them before any serious issues came up. So the tire store we went to put on Carlsile. They were on the camper for 3 years .. almost 4, and never had any problems. We traded the Springdale about 2 months ago for our current trailer. The dealer examined the tires, as did their mechanics, and saw nothing wrong with them. I never had a flat, nor a blow out, or even pressure loss over the winter (especially this last winter, I remember that clearly, the pressure was right at 50 pounds, same as when it got parked in the fall).

So in my opinion, I think they are a pretty good tire. No flat, no blow outs, no rubber loss, very little wear, holding good pressure .... 3 years running ... could anything be any better? What more would one want, except maybe 5 years?

I don't care where they were manufactured, I thought they were a pretty good tire.

  • Carlisle makes some decent low speed tires for Gators, lawn tractors etc. But their reputation for on road tires is not very good. What size are you looking for? Maxxis is probably the best ST tire going.
