Carrying a Firearm in your RV?

Just out of interest.. I have not up to this point carried a firearm with us on our interstate road trips.

Does anyone know of the legal stance on this?

A few aspects..

- Is it legal to carry firearms and ammo across State boundaries?
- I'm not talking about waving my .45 handgun around at a campground.. but what is the legal stance if I keep it safe inside the RV for self defense purposes? Hopefully never needed?
- If stopped by the police or at a checkpoint and they search the RV then what will the reaction be if they find the handgun?

Laws vary from state to state regarding concealed weapons. However, if an RV is considered one's domicile while traveling, there can be a difference in interpretation. You'd be wise to carry it in the coach and not the cab.
Without umbilical cords attached and on either the road or public parking areas, I do NOT know of one state that classifies an RV anything other than a motor vehicle or trailer. Once you "rent" or own a RV site and attach the umbilical cords, then and only then does it become your castle.
